ABOUT THE SCHOOL

Delhi Public School (East), Ahmedabad is a member of the prestigious Delhi Public School Society – New Delhi. It is promoted by Calorx Foundation, the promoter of DPS, Bopal. The school follows CBSE syllabus, curriculum designed by NCERT.

The objective of the school is to provide education that develops the student into well balanced personalities and inculcate sound values of love, kindness, devotion and service. Hence the motto “Service before self”.

1. Teaching and learning methodology

Jolly phonics

In the Pre Primary section reading is taught through Jolly Phonics is basically a British programme based on teaching English through synthetic phonic approach. It teaches letter sounds in multi sensory way.

Jolly phonics targets all kinds of learners in the class i.e. the visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners. The main idea behind this approach is to build a strong foundation in the development of a child’s reading and writing skills.

1. Integrated approach

In classes I-II an integrated system of teaching learning is being followed wherein one theme is taken for all subjects and ensured that there is a complete learning in that topic.(interdisciplinary Approach)

2. Technology based teaching

To make technology relevant in all subjects all lesson plans have technology driven teaching learning activities integrated within them. The content is supported with AV lessons, Power Points etc

3. DE-MART

To enable students to grasp mathematical concepts and effectively apply them, the school has launched DPS EAST MATHEMATICS ANNUAL ROLLING TROPHY. This is an Inter school competition for classes I-XII.

4. E-SMART

E smart is an initiative to promote spoken English in the campus. It is an effort to refine accents and also to develop confidence in students. Many activities are on anvil to take this forward.

5. Activity based teaching

The school believes that student learn best by doing. So there are constant efforts to provide opportunities and environment where the concepts are learnt through fun filled but relevant activities. This also creates a stress free atmosphere.

6. E-Learning

To overcome the difficulty of rote learning and to stimulate the interest in self learning the concepts and skills, the emphasis is given to visual learning through MODT (mobile on desk top) which is installed in all classrooms. This will help to develop student’s ability in applying logic to solve problems and foster thinking.

SOCIAL INITIATIVES

• Library on wheels

Library on wheels is an initiative by the school to revive reading habits in the community. This mobile library goes to different areas as per a schedule.
